AUTUMN’S APPROACH
Autumn’s Approach
As the old cottonwood stands firm against the seasons
As the winds blow its speckled black and golden yellow leaves along the winding trail
Autumn’s approach does not take kindly to it
The old cottonwood tree basks in the reminder of warm summer mornings and cool summer nights
But autumn’s approach is a reminder that winter is coming
But once more the old cottonwood stands firm against the seasons
That it too has an approach of its own
To be still and know that seasons come and go
To know once more the spring will arise
